About the Job:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional in the systems administration domain. This is a key role that requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain, upgrade, and manage our servers, software, hardware, networks and tools.
- Administer server installation, configuration & optimization.
- Perform application related installation of web servers, database servers, etc.
- Handle automation of services and processes required for efficient systems operation.
- Configure and track various performance measurement and monitoring services for an efficient and healthy infrastructure.
- Diagnose and resolve problems quickly. Troubleshoot issues and outages.
- Ensure security through access control, backups and firewalls based on regulations.
- Regularly document all processes and incidents on the infrastructure with technical insights, manuals and IT policies and notify involved teams.
- Support developers with data insights, reports, analysis, and actionable recommendations regarding server infrastructure and application process.
- Research & develop innovative solutions to enhance architecture and create better infrastructure based on industry trends.
- Strong familiarity with Linux operating systems mainly Debian, Infrastructure as code, and applications.
- Monthly patching of Linux, and VMware infrastructure.
- Fix security issues and vulnerabilities identified during assessments
- Deliver regular reporting to security leadership on remediation efforts.
- Develop a continuous monitoring approach to regularly measure and report the status of the following control areas: patching, hardening, audit and log config, authentication mechanism.
- Knowledge of information security hardening guidelines such as CIS
- Assist in providing assistance, and root-cause analysis on vulnerabilities
- Work through prioritised vulnerabilities for patch remediation with respective asset owners
- Learn and adapt to security objectives, and security capabilities.
- Advisory in prioritizations of patch deployment
- Classify and prfioritize the risk of all vulnerabilities taking into consideration mitigating factors and impacts of internal and external threats.
Required Skills:
- 7+ years of industry experience handling *nix-based infrastructure as a System Administrator or Dev Ops.
- Supporting and administrating Linux (Debian and RedHat based distributions).
- Ability to work in multi-datacenter, hybrid cloud, multi-server, large-scale environment.
- Knowledge of Google Cloud (GCP), AWS and other cloud technologies, cloud-computing, containerization, clustering, and virtualization technologies.
- Expertise in handling database servers, networks (LAN, WAN), with good knowledge of TCP/IP, with experience on Kernel upgrade.
- Strong expertise with Shell scripting. Python, Perl, or other scripting languages is a plus.
- Experience with DevOps - Chef, Puppet, Ansible or other such automation tools.
- Experience with handling distributed data-storage & computation platforms like Cloudera Hadoop, Apache Spark is a plus.
- Best understanding on security best practices.
- Experience handling installation and optimization of: Apache Webserver, Nginx, Bind/DNS, Nagios, iptables, LDAP, VPN, Munin, SVN, and GIT.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science with passion for server administration with any *nix certification is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to tailor technical information for different audiences. Excellent teamwork skills, ability to self-start, share insights, ask questions, and report progress.
